Lares Trek

Lares Trek

A quieter, culture-first alternative to the classic routes, passing through traditional weaving villages and natural hot springs on the way to Machu Picchu.

The Lares Trek trades some of the Inca Trail’s ruins for something harder to bottle: everyday life in the high Andes. The route winds through villages where Quechua is still the first language and weaving traditions go back centuries, with locals often selling textiles directly at trailside markets.

Treks typically start with a soak in the Lares hot springs, climb over a high pass with views of the Cordillera Urubamba, and finish with a train transfer to Machu Picchu — making it easy to combine with any of Llapango’s Machu Picchu day tours.
