Itinerary

Cusco - Km 82 - Wayllabamba

We pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 AM and drive to Ollantaytambo for breakfast. Continue to Km 82 (2,720m) where we begin our trek. Walk along the Urubamba River, passing Llactapata ruins before ascending to Wayllabamba campsite (3,000m). Distance: 12 km, 6-7 hours hiking.

Wayllabamba - Dead Woman's Pass - Pacaymayo

The most challenging day! After breakfast, we ascend to Warmiwañusca (Dead Woman's Pass) at 4,215m - the highest point of the trek. Descend to Pacaymayo campsite (3,600m) for the night. Distance: 11 km, 7-8 hours hiking.

Pacaymayo - Runkurakay - Wiñay Wayna

Cross two more passes while visiting Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, and the stunning Phuyupatamarca ruins. Descend through cloud forest to Wiñay Wayna (2,650m), the most impressive site on the trail. Distance: 16 km, 8-9 hours hiking.

Sun Gate - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Wake at 3:30 AM for the final push to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) to witness sunrise over Machu Picchu. Descend to the citadel for a 2-hour guided tour. Free time to explore before taking the bus to Aguas Calientes and train back to Cusco. Distance: 4 km, 2 hours hiking.
