Inca Trail
The legendary 4-day trek along original Inca stone pathways, crossing three mountain passes before arriving at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate at dawn.
Walking the Inca Trail is the way Machu Picchu was meant to be seen. Over four days, the trail climbs through cloud forest, high Andean grassland, and cloud-wrapped passes, linking a string of lesser-visited Inca sites — Llaqtapata, Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, and Wiñay Wayna — before the final climb to the Sun Gate.
Because the Peruvian government caps daily permits at 500 (including staff), spots for peak season (May–September) sell out months in advance. A shorter 2-day version is available for travelers with less time or who prefer a lighter trek.
